ST. LOUIS (AP) — A former St. Louis alderman indicted in a fraud case was charged with lying to police about getting carjacked last year, authorities said. Brandon Bosley was charged Wednesday with one misdemeanor count of making a false report to police when he said a woman tried to carjack him last year, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported. Months ago, he was indicted by federal officials in a fraud and bribery investigation that put three other former St. Louis aldermen in prison last December.Charging documents say there was no evidence of an attempted carjacking and that several parts of Bosley’s story did not line up with what investigators found, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported. WRANGELL, Alaska (AP) — Searchers looking for three people who remain missing after a massive landslide that killed three others and injured a fourth have changed their strategy from holding an active search to a reactive search that will involve methodically clearing the highway, officials said Thursday. “During active search periods we have searchers in the field meticulously looking for missing persons,” Austin McDaniel, a spokesperson with the Alaska Department of Public Safety, told the Associated Press. “During reactive searches, search teams are not actively in the field but will react to new information and then actively search that area supported by the new information.”Since Monday night’s slide, officials have inspected the site by air with drones, helicopters and planes while teams using detection dogs and sonar covered the ground and water, but the three people — one adult and two juveniles — remain missing, McDaniel said.The slide churned up the earth...Waukegan Fifth Third Bank robbed hours before Thanksgiving

A 51-year-old Aurora man was sentenced to more than four decades in prison after killing a Cherry Creek School District teacher he had previously dated.Eric Cobain pleaded guilty to second-degree murder with a domestic violence factual basis earlier this year for fatally shooting Melissa Wright. Three people, including an infant, are all in critical condition after a traffic collision occurred at 1758 W. 83rd St. near Manchester Square in Los Angeles on Thursday.An adult male and female were also injured in the crash. Three people died at BART stations on Wednesday night, authorities reported Thursday. Two of the cases were suspected to have been related to fentanyl/other drugs, given that Narcan — a medicine given to help people who are overdosing on an opioid — was deployed in the case of both individuals.The first death occurred at the Fruitvale Station in Oakland, after BART Police Officers and medical personnel responded around 6:19 p.m. to an alert about an unresponsive male. A dose of Narcan was administered to the subject and medical personnel began doing life-saving measures, before ultimately declaring the individual dead. LOS ANGELES (AP) — Eddie Merrins was known as “The Little Pro” because of his 5-foot-7 stature, certainly not his influence on golf. The longtime pro at Bel-Air Country Club touched everyone from U.S. Open champion Corey Pavin to Fred Astaire and even Mikhail Baryshnikov.Merrins died Wednesday in Los Angeles at age 91 after a long illness, according to UCLA, where he coached for 14 years.“The game of golf is a very selfish game in the sense that you’re the only one who gets any real enjoyment out of what you do,” Merrins once said. “But in teaching, you get the satisfaction of knowing that you’ve helped somebody.”Merrins certainly could play. He played 82 times on the PGA Tour, but never more than 10 tournaments in a year. He qualified for the U.S. Open eight times and the PGA Championship six times.
